I5-6600K & ASUS H170 Progaming

Hi there.

So yesterday I hit my CPU's limit. I was playing AC Odyssey and I was monitoring the resources and I found out my Graphic Card was only 80% in use and CPU was 100% which means the CPU is bottelnecking my GPU. I'm not sure though, the GPU itself is weak too and the resolution was 1600*900 and I Overclocked the GPU high enough to get boost but there was no boost at all in the game, not even a single frame but in benchmark there was a few fps boost. So I suspect the CPU.

So since my Mother Board is not meant for Overclocking I was looking for other ways to boost CPU's performance to get more GPU performance.

Does anyone have any idea how I can boost CPU frequency or performance or anything at all? (Actually there is this "increasing the resolution will reduce the CPU's pressure" theory but I can't do that since the Display's limit  is 1600*900.)

Is there any way to boost it from bios?

Thanks.

very few H170 and H270 boards can overclock, what is your model

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G2 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Dual Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - GTX 750 TI - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - dark mode Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

How many watts do I need? Seasonic Focus threadUserbenchmark (Et al.) is trash explained, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Prices on those are insanity :/

He'll be better off buying a used 1600 and B350 board (will probably cost less than a crappy Z170 one too)

Just assumed it'd be cheap.

Seems to be a fine pairing with an i5 6600. A friend of mine is using an i54690k @ 4.4Ghz with a GTX 1080, but at 4k. He seems happy with that setup. Turn up the graphics a little if you really want to get the most out of your GPU. If you aren't happy with the total frame rate that you are getting, you'll need a full system upgrade. The GTX 960 probably doesn't have all that much head room so pairing it with a more powerful CPU will probably be disappointing.
