Worth upgrading i7-8700K to i7-10700K? (gamer)

Current system:

 

Intel Core i7-8700K

GeForce RTX 2080

16 GB DDR4-3000

Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD (1440p144)

 

I play games such as Borderlands 3, Doom Eternal, Call of Duty: Warzone etc. and at 1440p.

 

I aim for a frame rate of at least 100.

 

Would I get much of a benefit by upgrading my i7-8700K to a i7-10700K?

I was looking into this as well, and it seems to be a 5-10% fps uptick.  For me, that's not worth it yet.  I'm plenty happy with my 8700K and 1080Ti.  Your call.

If we're talking only 5-10%, I'll wait for the next generation.

Not worth it, you'd probably get an unnoticeable improvement at 1440p, if even that.

Why buy a new motherboard for the 10700K + the CPU itself if you can just upgrade to a 9900K?,They are basically the same.

Also the the difference in performance doesn't worth it anyway,the 8700K is a pretty good CPU.

Personally I am hanging on to my 8700k for the time being. Upgrade for a gaming CPU is not worth it IMO.

Not sure I could hold off that long.  Staying at 1080/60 until 4k.144... I'd make the jump to 1440p long before then.

Yes,but upgrading every 2-2.5 years is a waste of money.

The 6700K was released at the end of 2015,the 8700K was released at the end of 2017,and now in mid 2020 you want to upgrade to a 10700K.

Those are top tier products and cost a lot of money,it really is a waste to replace them every 2 years...

 

I save a lot of money by upgrading every 4-5 years.

 

BTW I am glad that nowdays performance per dollar is more than ever before,My overclocked 1660 can play new games at 1440p Ultra no problem.
