Hashcat Ryzen 9 3900X vs Core i9-9900K

Hi,

For a CPU bassed attack (nothing specific) which would be better Ryzen 9 3900X or Core i9-9900K, or at least if you were going to purchase which would you go with,

does hashcat prefer single thread performance more than multithread? How many cores can it use? I cant find data on it

 

and I'm sure this post is now full of law enforcements

It supports multithreaded, as its labeld as the worlds fastest at cpu bassed "password recovery" cough

I would personally go with the 3900x because I use a ton of cpu based software that requires more cores and I do game but a 10fps hit at 1080p gaming isn't much to complain about. even then if I use my 4k monitor for gaming the two cpus would get the same fps because the games become gpu bound at higher resolutions.

You should try to look up benchmarks of this on those or similar processors. AMD and Intel provide different cryptographic acceleration, and if the software can take advantage of either of those, it could really swing it one way or the other.
