If your current ram doesn't overclock very well, you should definitely consider some faster ram. DDR4 3200 is not terribly expensive.

Should I upgrade my ram? I want to upgrade my CPU. I have a i5 6400 and want to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 3700x. The thing is, I heard Ryzen benefits from fast ram and I have 32gb of ddr4 ram at 2400 mhz. Should I get faster ram or keep my existing ram?

I'd go for faster RAM for sure. However, I wouldn't get the 3700x. Unless you really need it now, wait for 4th gen Ryzen.
