My CPU usage is 100 while gpu is 10 while playing fortnite

I have a intel i5 7400 as cpu

a nvidia geforce gtx 1080 as gpu

when i play fortnite my cpu usage goes up to a 100 while my gpu stays on 10 ish

Windows currently has bug atm affecting a small number of users, where the idle process is sometimes counted against CPU usage.
Use a different program or look at the 'Processes' tab to see how much Fortnight (or other any application) is using.

i used task manager to see how much it used maybe i should try msi afterburner

i have everything set so i get the best peformance i am on low settings and i get 120 fps with fps drops

should i upgrade my cpu or gpu and what should i upgrade it to if i need 2

thats seems about right, does gpu usage go up with higher settings?

it goes to like 15 procent instead of 10 if i go to max quality

None of it...Your GPU could run this shitty Game 10 times.

And i doubt your CPU would be maxed out by it either.

Yes your CPU isnt realy good, but maxed out? Try to enhance the resolution, max out the graphics etc. Give the GPU as much work as possible.

But sooner or later you need a better CPU if you want game without problems. Its sooner, not later btw.

try to go on nvidia settings and make sure your game using dedicated instead integrated intel hd if your cpu have one
