No luck with multiple 5700xt. At a loss...

Setup Specs
Motherboard: ASUS Prime X470-Pro BIOS ver: 5406
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3000
Storage: SanDisk SSD 128GB(boot)
Storage: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB
PSU: Corsair RMx Series RM750x 80+Gold
MONITORS: MSI Optix MAG271CQR, LG 29UB55-B 29" Ultra Wide, Samsung C32HG70 32"

I had a MSI Vega 56 Air Boost in my system previously,that worked perfect and still does, but had a little extra money so I upgraded to a Powercolor 5700XT Red Devil. Used DDU to get rid of all the previous display drivers and did a fresh install. I launch Borderlands 3... black screen and reboots. Log back into windows, launch Witcher 3... black screen and reboot. Anything games I open, the same thing happens... Black screen reboot.

Couple months down the road and amid COVID, I get distracted with everything going on, since I work at a hospital, and am not able to RMA it or return it. Fine whatever. SO I order another one. XFX 5700XT THICC Ultra 3. Do the same as before: DDU to wipe drivers, fresh install and... Black screen and reboot. The only difference with the THICC is now is will run games on the LG Ultra Wide monitor. So I though maybe the Display port cables where bad on the other two monitors. Changed them out and same results. Used different ports on both cards and still the same issue... Black screen and reboot.

I have done everything I can do with my limited skills and am hoping maybe anyone knows anything that could point me in the right direction. I'm think it may be a mother board issue, have only had current motherboard for just over a year, and just picking up a X570 would hopefully solve my problem. Any help would be a appreciated. Thank you.

Update your mobo bios, force PCI Express 3 Mode if that does not help

When you go through multiple cards and still have a problem

 

it begs the question if the cards were even the problem to begin with

 

ensure all plugs are in tightly, you're using two separate PCIE cables from the PSU to the GPU, and if it still doesn't work, try a full windows reinstall.

I believe I have the most up to date (ver. 5406) according to ASUS website. Not sure how to force PCI Exp 3 but I'm sure I can figure it out. Probably should have gone with 2070 on the second card but I'm stubborn like that. Thank you!

Ya. Now I have two 5700xt's. Probably sell one since I can return it anymore, assuming I get one of them working. I was thinking of pulling everything apart tonight and plugging it back in. I will try the two separate cables. I was entertaining the idea of a full wipe and reinstall. Will give that a try if this doesn't pan out. Thank you!

it isnt hte gpus that arent working, it is probably soemthin else. have your tried with different psu or motherboard?

i had similar story with my bros PC as he has 

R5 3600 and MSI B450 Tomahawk literally nothing i did helped ;/

 

2070S is a bit more expensive but he had 0 issues with it.

i find it kind of amusing AMD cards refuse to work with AMD motherboards and CPUs lol

 

i kind of want to take my 5700 out of my intel system and pair it with my 1600 to see if it magically blows up

Replacing the motherboard was my also an idea I was entertaining so I want to upgrade to a x570 anyways but was hoping not to have to do it right now. I have another PSU but its 600watts and wasn't sure if that would be enough to power the system.

my vega 64 wouldn't have it with just one daisy chain

i've got 4 AMD GPUs currently in my household running fine. I won't rule it out that's the problem with the OP but......i can't say I have personally experienced this.

well 2 gpu at the row is still pretty unlucky. and its not that common even  with 1 gpu. pretty sure the drivers do not have anything to do with the pc not posting

its just RX 5xxx serises being garbage the cards and drivers for them, had no problems on same system with RX580.

Tier lists for building a PC.

 

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

Psu tier List. Tier A for Rtx 3000, Vega and RX 6000. Tier B For anything else. Tier C cheap/IGPU. Tier D and E avoid.

(RTX 3000/ RX 6000 Might run just fine with higher wattage tier B unit, Rtx 3070 runs fine with tier B units)

Cpu cooler tier list. Tier 1&2 for power hungry Cpus with Overclock. Tier 3&4 for overclocking Ryzen 3,5,7 or lower power Intel Cpus. Tier 5 for overclocking low end Cpus or 4/6 core Ryzen. Tier 6&7 for stock. Tier 8&9 Ryzen stock cooler performance. Do not waste your money!
