Best AMD CPU/Motherboard combo for sub $150

I have a computer that had it's motherboard short out, and am looking to upgrade to AMD. I have a 80+ smart 600w, a RX480 (4gb), and a 2x8 GB kit (2800mghz), and just need a new CPU/motherboard. Any suggestions for sub $150?

I am looking at something Like this

https://www.newegg.com/msi-a320m-a-pro-max/p/N82E16813144286?&quicklink=true And a Ryzen 3 3rd gen

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Guess you'd need to update the boards Bios first but then the chosen cpu will work on it.
With that board you can't upgrade to Ryzen 4000 though, and I even think it's gonna be hard with some of the Ryzen 3000 in terms of using the full potential of the cpu.

Don't go for an A320 board. I'd recommend this or this. If you are concerned about an upgrade path, anything under x570 won't support Ryzen 4000 but all x570 are out of you budget anyway.

right now, with price markups, getting a 4000 compatible board is not a great looking idea. Really, probably a board with   a 16x slot and 3000 support is it. Mabye a new board later, but with the CPU, a board like that could be up towards 175 total. Honestly, skimping out on a CPU and getting a cheep board now, something that could pull the full power of a cheep CPU and an RX480 (my card) and a new board (mabye) when 4000 is out. I'd also like to know if it's more worth it to get the 1200af above, or a 3200g?

I should also mention my previous CPU is an i5 7400. Performance close to that on a CPU would be nice.
