We have had flying cars for awhile. They are just expensive and not practical. On a side note we barely understand how the brain works so I say maybe

Flying cars are entirely feasible right now, they're just not practical. The cost of jet fuel, the fact that everyone isn't a pilot and the glaring safety concerns are just a few reasons why it hasn't happened.

That was my point...the technology that people in the present think will be so cool in the "future" usually turns out to be not that practical or worthwhile once the capability is there. The same will most likely be said for this technology.

Iirc “self driving car” has multiple levels of what that means.  We both do and do not have “self driving cars” right now.

 

”brain interface” is probably similar.  A lot of levels.

Anything interfacing with your brain is iffy, can easily mess with a lot of things without meaning to, we don't even really understand how a lot of the brain functions. I mean a software bug could kill a lot of people.
