VGA To DisplayPort Adapter

I have a monitor that doesn't support DisplayPort/HDMI but it supports VGA and DVI. I will be upgrading my Monitor later.

So which is better VGA or DVI. Would it be alright if I use a vga/dvi to hdmi/displayport adapter to increase my graphics.

This might be confusing my fault lol.

Get a HDMI to DVI cable/adapter, or otherwise a Displayport to DVI adapter.

VGA is analog, so you'll want to avoid that. DVI and HDMI are pretty similar internally, so 'converting' one to another is as simple as getting a cable, while Displayport will require usually more expensive adapters

Copied from a google search. Uhm, I'm not sure if the difference will be significant, maybe just go with whichever adaptor you can find first, for me it was easier to find a VGA to HDMI adaptor. The last part kinda confused me btw

vga is analogue, lower quality and the analogue signal can be affected by outside "noise" as it travels through the video cable.

DVI is digital signal, bits flowing through digital cable.

Your best option is to get a DisplayPort to DVI cable but often such a cable is too expensive, because DVI is outdated / almost obsolete, so few will stock such cable or make it in high enough volume to be cheap.

An alternative is to go through hdmi as in-between ... so basically use a DisplayPort - HDMI cable or DisplayPort->HDMI passive adapter followed by a cheap HDMI -> DVI passive adapter

You can convert digital signal without losses as they're compatible, so Displayport -> HDMI is lossless , then HDMI -> DVI is again lossless. It's kinda like rearranging wires inside the connectors, no chips or something processing picture like it happens with displayport -> vga.

DisplayPort to VGA would be lossy, and implies a conversion of signal from digital to analogue.
