Wanted to validate CPU and Motherboard compatibility

Go to solution Solved by WambleCropped,

Go for a better mobo, that isnt that great. (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jcYQzy/msi-b450-tomahawk-max-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-tomahawk-max) Yes they will work but you are going to need another am4  CPU for a bios update I believe. The one linked will not require another CPU or bios update.

These are the same socket type but i have heard of compatibility issues with the ryzen gen 3 so i wanted to make sure they would work together. Also willing to look at any recommendations for replacements instead of this. trying to keep below $(usd) 300

Thank you that was what i was concerned about. is there a way to find out if the ones i look at in the future will require an update?

Usually, unless the manufacturer says otherwise, you'll probably have to give it ye old bios flash
