Rogers internet requesting dump every 2 weeks?

So for the past few days the home wifi had been cutting out for 5 minutes then coming back on for 5 minutes. I unplug the router (it's the one Rogers gave us) and it don't fix anything. The internet to the house will just cut in and out like clockwork from about midnight till about 5 am. So my mom calls Rogers today's and the guys says "ok I'll fix it for you". So he fixed it. But he said he needs to "dump junk encrypted data manually" he said he does this all the time at his place and to call back every 2 or 3 weeks to have this done again.. WTF I've never heard of this and are you kidding me about doing this every 2 or 3 weeks? Never heard of this. Is she being dooped?

I don't know what this could possibly mean. Just to confirm, she called Rogers directly, not a third party contractor?

If she is paying this guy to do this, she's being scammed. I cannot realistically see Rogers recommending you do this, as it would severely tie up their customer service team.

Make sure to quote me or use @PorkishPig to notify me that you replied!

This.

I'd venture the router either needs a firmware update, or is dying and needs to be replaced entirely.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

If they're forcing you to pay to fix the service that you are already paying for, then you're being played like a fiddle. I'd contact member retention and be getting a few things straight.
