i3 9100f vs ryzen 5 3600

So currently my friend and I are in an arguement as he just built a pc with a i3 9100f and the processor cost him £70 and he keeps saying why would i spend twice the amount of money to buy an ryzen 5 3600 for £160. Which is better I know that the AMD processor cost 2.5 times more. But in my opinion it is better value for money. Which one do you think it better?

While the i3 9100F is a good chip for budget builds, the Ryzen 5 3600 may cost 2.5 times more but it has 3 times more threads (same clock speeds and without accounting for all the other better specs), so you can definitely argue price/performance is better on the AMD chip...

they're different categories for CPUs

 

the 3600 is better for gaming overall

 

but the 3300X would be the best buy, though it only just got released.

 

the i3 may have fps drops and a lower fps cap than a higher core count CPU.

I mean even the ryzen 3100 smokes the 9100f. That and quad cores can't really play todays games without issues anymore. Which is why the 4c8t 3100 which is a little more is a lot better as it makes games go from a sturttery mess with inconsistent framerates to a playable experience.

 

The 3600 pretty much lets you do anything without a problem and is going to avoid being a problem for longer especially with the next gen consoles basically being 8c16t systems forcing higher core counts in pc too for games.

3600 is better for price/performance. Why did he get a 9100f when there are 1600af/3300x for about 30 ponds more?

for purely gaming 3300x. ryzen 5 3600 is on par with 3300x in gaming but it is better for future since it has mor cores and threads.

Like a week after he built it he regretted getting an intel processor instead of AMD, but also I have been using this forum extensively to help me build my pc he just used pc part picker

I also don't fully plan on using the processor for just gaming, like recording steaming video editing and other work related stuff

He could still return it then. Sure it's gonna suck to take it apart but that will have to happen anyways in the future when quad cores are just not doing it at all anymore.

3600 ALL THE WAY (3300X for gaming only, 3100 for light gaming but would not recommend it (yet I am getting it))

for streaming and editing ryzne 5 3600 will make more sense that 3300x. 3300x is not the worst for stremaing but 3600 will perform better

To put It simply 

 

A. The 3600 has the best ipc count out of all of them and will perform the best

B. If you don't want to spend 200dollars on it go for the 3300x the ipc count is relatively close and it had the same memory controller as the 3600 but has less hyper threaded cores 

C. If you are on a super tight budget get the 3100 with less ipc but the same core count as the 3300x and the same memory controller as both of them 

 

Don't even consider the 9100f that this is bad

Everytime I go on Userbenchmark it keeps saying the i3 9100f is 3% better then the 3600 but I just don't seem trust them site anymore

This is also why I decided to use this site as I don't feel Im very good with build a pc part list and I was originally going to go with an intel cpu

I mean intel cpus arent bad but they are really not worht it. AMd threadrippers beat intels X -series cpus. AMD EPYC beats intel XEONS. Ryzen beats intel dekstop cpus by price to performance.
