No Option to ENABLE/DISABLE SLI?

2 X GTX 1070 Founders Edition

1 x ROG STRIX High Bandwidth SLI Bridge 

1 x ROG STRIX B-450-F Gaming Motherboard

 

Not seeing an option to enable or disable sli in the options? 

 

I removed/reinstalled the driver with a clean install and no luck...

Because the board is not SLI certified or capable.

Additionally, if I'm reading it right, the board only does x8 on the first PCIe slot and x4 on the second x16 slot when both are populated. SLI requires x8/x8 on both x16 slots to function.

You are correct. OP please check reviews. I hope you had that board and one card before you bought the other and didn't buy it with the intention of doing sli. multiple reviews state there is no SLI support and I could not find any official documentation stating such either. There is not enough PCI lanes as Lurick mentioned. Most budget gear will not support high end features such as SLI especially in a age where Nvidia themselves aren't giving it much support outside of enterprise situations.

What gaming motherboard would take out sli support during 10 series Gtx cards ?

It doesn't. It supports CF but not SLI. Review's wrong, look at specs instead.

Only CrossFireX is supported on (most?) B450 boards.

can you link tht pge, when I look at it it shows x8, x4 or x16

I stand corrected. I was speaking from "experience". I've only had an NVMe riser in the second slot, and I know the first dropped to x8; I just assumed the second dropped to x8 as well... I think I knew that at one point and overwrote it in my brain. I guess that would explain why I ruled out experimenting with SLI a long time ago (using the hacked drivers).

so if it supports three way Crossfire its the same tech to make SLI work .... Just because AMD board does not mention Nvidia on their packaging, does not mean it can not be done!

Beyond the technical layer SLI requires licensing and explicit support with NVidia keys in the BIOS. A board that doesn't advertise SLI doesn't have that.

Yes, only the X chipsets do. 

okay i need another new board? x370 is cheaper than x470 is there any real difference? I want dual nvme pci 3.0 x4. 3 X PCI 16x slots..
