Recommended tv to use as pc monitor.

I use my tv as my monitor for my pc and currently have a 55" tv. I just built a new pc and wanted to upgrade my current tv that I purchased in 2013. I have a budget of 1000 usd. I would like to get 120hz but at that price i understand I am asking for champagne on a beer budget. What would you recommend I purchase? Thanks for the input!

Why does it have to be a TV? For 1k$ you can get a realy good Monitor. TV´s in that range arent comparable.

Only BFGDs and some high end LG displays support 120Hz.

Also, no GPUs with HDMI 2.0 exist so you either need to get a BFGD with dispalyport ($5000+) or change your resolution to 1440p every time you want to game.

Go to rtings.com and look at the TV reviews to find one with low input lag.

Cause gaming on a 55"+ screen is far more fun and immersive than a tiny 24 or 30" monitor...

If you enjoy a giant screen, why not go for a 49” ultrawide? They can be found for a lot less than 1k and are meant for gaming.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

27" or ultrawide is all you need if you sit infront of it. + Gsync ect. No TV can deliver that.

I use it in my living room and sit a fair distance away so I need it to be larger.

49" ultrawide is just a 55 or 60" tv with the top and bottom chopped off.

When you want to watch anything that's 16:9 (like 99% of all content) you end up with a tiny picture size with black bars on the left and right.

It's much better to use a larger screen and get more vertical realestate, and you can still do ultrawide for gaming if you want.

LOL clearly you've never used a TV as a monitor...

I've been on 55"+ for the past ten years, no monitor config even comes close to being this immersive.

Maybe if you had a projector, or those movie theaters that let you book a room and play games are more imemrsive.

Yeah I have seen that one and its 1900.00 at 65" but only 1300.00 for the 55" and it's a really good tv. Linus actually did a video on it and I think still has it set up in his house. I may end up spending a bit more for that tv.

Lg c9 55 inch (should be around 1400 range) 120hz, G-sync + Hdmi 2.1 for future. There is a CX (C10) release coming with new monitors (minor updates, but still) including 49inch which might be attractive for you :) Read about OLED burn-ins, if that scares you, I can recommend samsung QLEDS, Q70R up. Not as good picture as OLED, but damn pretty and close :)

LG B9 55" is $1300. If you can stretch your budget a bit, that would be by far the best choice.

If not, the Samsung Q70T 55" can do 1440p @ 120hz (4k only @ 60hz). What sort of graphics card will you be hooking the TV up to?

I was leaning towards the Samsung Q70T as well but I will take a look at that LG thanks. I will be running a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT

Lean towards the Samsung, then. Samsung's current LCD lineup supports Freesync. LG's B9 does not. You will have a better experience if you go with one of the Samsung models.

Hey so Im planning on building a $1k system with a 2060 KO Ultra and I own a q70r. Do you think it would be worth it to switch to a rx5600 xt just for Freesync even though the RTX has more feature that I want. I've never used a VRR TV or monitor so I don't know. Maybe Nvidia will add Freesync support over HDMI?

It's up to you, honestly. I don't know how fast an RX 5600 XT is compared to an RTX 2060 KO (and obviously the RX 5600 XT does not have RT).

If you have never had a freesync/gsync monitor, then it you won't know what you're missing. If you have and are used to tear-free gaming, then trust me on this... you're going to hate going back.
