Should I Buy A Ryzen 5 2600 To Weather The Storm?

Currently using an i5 6500. The 4c4t is kinda killing me in situations especially multitasking. Really want to wait till Zen 4(5nm) comes out end of next year.

But in really getting sick of the 6500 as days go on, I'm able to pick up a Ryzen 5 2600 + a mobo for around $150. I know it's worth it, but is it a good idea to pick it up and use it until Zen 4 comes out and move on to DDR5 etc?

Not really sure if I would spend the extra money on a 3600 just to upgrade in 1.5-2 years.

Need some advice thanks yall

i would do it. the 6500 is not the multitasking CPU you want to be using.

I primarily play csgo, maybe streaming it as well but I can use nvenc to lessen the cpu load. Also some coding and light editing work.

The problem now is I really can't have anything else open at the same time with csgo cuz the cpu usage just goes bonkers. Sometimes even discord and stuff lag the game lmao.

Yeah for gaming and streaming and vid editing you might want to upgrade it because 4c/4t is pretty outdated and isn’t enough for even modern games sometimes. If you can wait I suggest upgrading when ryzen 4000 drops buy if you need the cpu power you can buy the 2600. I’m not going to upgrade until ryzen 5000 drops. Ryzen cpus age pretty well
