No Image - Do I need A Graphics Card?

rcskater1

Hello all, I am a avid mac user and decided to build myself a new Plex Server. Bellow are the parts listed.

Ryzen 3700

Cooler Master Master Liquid ML240L

ASRock X570M Pro4 Micro ATX

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32gb (4 x 8GB)

Samsung 970 500gb M.2

EVG G5 750W 80+

I spent the day building the machine. After the build i went to turn on and what do you know fan spin. I watched the Post Status Checker do its thing and blink through the CPU, Memory, VGA and Boot. Eventually after about 20 seconds the light went off and all seemed well.

But at this point I realized that there was no image (sad). I had a HDMI plugged directly into the board into a monitor. I turned the system off and on but still no dice. Removed the ram and put it back still no dice.

After some research I found that most believe that the a graphic's card is required. I had planed on purchasing a P2000 at a later time. Do i just need to get that now and that will solve my issues? Is there more to it?

Thanks in advanced everyone.

The 3700x does not have a GPU built in, so to get any sort of video out you require a video card.

Can be a simple or elaborate one, you need something with video out, as the HDMI on the motherboard won't display anything.

There are CPU's that can be used with the motherboard that do have video out.

Anything that begins with an A (A8, A10, etc.) and everything that ends with a G (2200G, 3400G, etc.) has video out.
