3000 usd performance gaming rig - request for help

Hej all,

Love the channel, decided to join on some conversations in forum too :)

Firstly bit selfishly, would like to as for help myself :)

First build in 10 years. First request for help :)

Budget (including currency): 3000 usd, 3500 with monitor/peripherals

3000 for all would be ideal.

Country: Denmark

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Plex server - 3 simultaneous transcoding limit, 2-4 TB storage for it should be enough

Gaming - COD WZ, Cyperpunk 2077 and similar.

VR - would like to to be able to run VR maybe in a year or so (oculus quest 2 @ 2021 ?)

Other details :

Would like the build to last without meaningful updates for 4-5 years.

Have lg 27uk850-w, 4k @ 60hz - usbc/miniDP but probably would want another one or as secondary for fps gaming with higher refresh rate, 1440p @ 144hz would be enough imo.

Based on experience my machines run all time with rare restart or shutdown, so would say 24/6.

Dont need RGB or anything flashy at all, just pure silence (good airflow), stability and performance :)

Prefer reasonable value/price parts - for example as i heard many times Nvidia 2080 ti is not worth it, and probably 2080 super should be enough with reasonable savings in price.

As a side question, to the build suggestion request :

I know DDR5 @ 4800 is coming to consumers ~ mid 2021 and new graphic cards from NVIDIA 30xx later this year. I still could annoyingly manage this year without the build, but not sure if it is worth the wait.

Thank you for all your help and inputs, really appreciate it.

Lets the road to the DYI PC's start here.

Hej mate,

Thanks a lot @SavageNeocouple questions to ease my decision :)

1. Asus TUF Gaming VG27BQ monitor has freesync, but since I am using nvidia GPU - shouldn't monitor also support g-sync ?

Would freesync even work with AMD CPU but Nvidia GPU ?

2. Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard - seems a bit budget x570, what would be a small improvement on it, with at least 2.5g lan

Also the x570 should still support Ryzen 4000 series and nvidia 3000 right ? only ddr5 upgrade would require motherboard change ?

3. 550W power supply will enough for this build ?

4. Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case one intake and one outtake fan will be enough to cool it ?

5. Is there a big difference between ROG/windforce and similar ? trying to understand advantages and price differences.

The prime-P is budget board but has great VRMs to keep stuff down for overheating. for 2.5g lan youd have to go with asus x570 strix-E (i have the same board)

It will support next ryzen yes. DDR 5 comes likely in late 2022 or early 2023 so no need to panic.

more than enough. your build will consume around 400w anyway.

Depends. if you really need betterr airflow case, take a look at corsair 220t airflow. but you can buy cheap fans with the meshify c

Brand. Asus is more expensive brand. But they have a little better products.
