Please help! My internet keeps randomly & briefly disconnecting. :(

Hey guys,

 

Recently I’ve been having this issue where, regardless of an Ethernet or WiFi connection, my internet keeps briefly disconnecting for a few seconds and then reconnecting. It’s really annoying me because in some games like DBD there is a penalty that gets longer and longer for every D/C (to discourage rage-quits) and now every time it happens I am banned for 6+ hours even though I had no intention of quitting or disconnecting.

 

I’ve searched Google and everywhere I can find but nothing seems to help. It happens when my Ethernet cable is plugged directly into the router. It happens when I’m using WiFi only, it happens regardless of how I connect to the internet.

 

What could possibly be causing this and is there anything I can do about it?

 

It’s been happening for about 2 weeks so far and it’s driving me crazy!

I already tried that 😞 It was one of the first Google solutions I found while looking.

Oh, try updating drivers on your device then, it's not highly likely for both wifi and ethernet to fail at the same time, that's why I thought router was to blame.

 

Another guess: Maybe all devices combined are using way too much bandwidth? Try to not play while someone is streaming a movie...

Non-free solution:

In case it is hardware to blame... Buy an adapter, USB to wifi or USB to Ethernet.
