Zotac GTX 970 - fans never ramp up - but can.

Dravinian

I have a couple of GTX 970s, and when I run a benchmark they reach their max set temperature of 80c, but the fans never ramp up...the cards just throttle down instead.

I have MSI afterburner and it has fans as 'Auto' and I was wondering whether there was any way to push the fans to kick in a little earlier.

In MSI I can set the fans higher, at 100% they really kick-off and are loud and I can see why they do not go there for no reason, but it would be nice if they kicked in to stop the throttling problem as the cards built up heat.

Anyone know of a way of doing this?

I found it in MSI, you can set a custom fan curve....

For some reason, these cards were set to start ramping at over 90c....which is kinda pointless you would have to be killing them to get them there after the throttling down..
