Urgently need a new laptop

I'm in urgent need of a laptop for schoolwork and coding.  I don't need tablet function (2-in-1).  I prefer larger screen sizes and would like the laptop to be thin/ as lightweight as possible. I don't have the budget for an apple macbook.  I'm willing to pay, give or take, $1000 USD.  The help would be thoroughly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
