It won’t, the hyper 212 is litteraly the height of the max cooler height in my case and it still fits

Looking at pairing the above cooler with my Ryzen 5 3600 (not Overclocking) as the Hyper 212, while a better cooler, is 2mm off my Case's 160mm cooler height clearance and I don't want to be coming too close in case it turns out not to fit. I'm not overclocking the R5 3600 so I'd think the H411 cooler should be able to handle it... thoughts?

My case is a Phanteks p300 which has a clearance height listed as 160mm; the Hyper 212 has a listed height of 158mm. very little margin for error. If anyone has been able to fit this cooler in that case with an AM4 motherboard please let me know.

If you have the H411R then sure, but I dont see the point of buying one. Plenty of coolers below the height limit that are reasonably cheap and better than the h411r

I don't have it yet. I'd rather the hyper 212 but I'm concerned about it fitting in the case.

There's the Arctic Freezer 33 at 150mm, Freezer 34 at 157mm, Noctua U12S at 158mm, Hyper 212 Black at 159mm... all better choice than the H411R even considering the price (at roughly $25-30), without considering downdrafts like the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 or Small towers like the Noctua D9

I'm also looking at the Cryorig H7 because it's only 145mm in height

H7 is also a viable option, though recently Cryorig stuff is overprice in my region

fair enough then, might grab that because the Cryorig H7, while great, sits a bit close to the RAM and is also real heavy.

Close to RAM is fine, RAM does not need much cooling.

Heavy is actually a good thing as that means bigger heatsink (tho not sure if it applies in this case).

If the cooler's height is less than the specified cooler clearance, it should fit fine. The specs are a bit conservative and there's often a bit more headroom for a taller cooler.

Plenty of examples of the Hyper 212 fitting in the P300: https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/FCs8TW#h=709,8,511,711,52

Why not stick with the stock cooler?

I don't like the stock cooler for a plethora of reasons and I'd rather spend $70 NZD for a cooler that looks better and performs whisper quiet than using the cruddy extruded aluminium heatsink that comes with the CPU. It's well within my budget for the Cryorig H7, which is what I ended up buying, and for that reason among many others I don't see the point in the stock cooler.

The stock cooler is enough for plenty of systems and can be quiet enough depending on the case airflow and user. For many people, the lack of a stock cooler would just mean more cost and hassle without a significant benefit.
