Stock Backplate with EK Waterblock

I'm currently in the process of getting everything for a full custom loop. I ordered a waterblock for my Titan X (Pascal), but I'm curious if I can use the factory backplate in a way that doesn't involve double sided tape. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm fond of the stock backplate, but I don't want it to be incredibly jank.

It depends on the backplate and block, as the design that EK has set out is designed for their backplate is to have the bolts go through the backplate, PCB, and mount into the GPU block. Some stock backplates use the same method of mounting so longer bolts would be necessary to accommodate while others fasten the plate first by bolting through from the GPU die side into threads on the backplate.

Well I used an ek backplate on an fe 1080 cooler. So I imagine if you have the screws to do so, you can make it work.
im sure the tape could work too. Assuming it’s thin enough.

i had that exact same card, with the same waterblock and the stock backplate.

it works, but you can't use all the backplate screws.

Thanks! I got it all installed no problem. I had to widen the backplate holes a bit to fit the screws EK included but it all worked out well.
