1660 super vs RTX 2060 KO

Recently built my new computer (i'll put the specs below) and I went with the MSI GTX 1660 super. Was scrolling through Amazon the other day and came across the RTX 2060 KO which is a newer graphics card and from my understanding is above the 1660 super. It is about $80 more and I still have a chance to return my 1660, but wanted to get more opinions on whether I should do this or not. This is my first build and want this graphics card to last me for a couple of years. I mainly play FPS such as Modern Warfare, overwatch and some MMO's like league of legends. Thoughts?

 

Ryzen 5 3600 (changed CPU freq to 4100 and set volatage to 1.375)

ASRock ATX B450 PRO4 motherboard

GTX 1660 super 6GB 

2 8G sticks of corsair 3200 RAM

550 watt PSU from corsair

Corsair H100i Platinum liquid cooling system

Windows 10 OS.

What do you do? Only games or more stuff like editing and blender

I would return the cooler too. Thats almost as expensive as your cpu Dont take it personally, I just hate this rgb trend where people buy slower parts in order to fit more rgb in.

 

That voltage also seems a bit high for zen2. Could be fine if there is large'ish vdroop and it shows up 1.32 under full load.

I would strongly recommend the Scythe Fuma 2 (unless you intend to upgrade to a 9900k or 3950x anytime in the future, or their equivalent). It's a great cooler for 60 bucks

If you think that would be using Blender anytime soon, jump and get the rtx 2060 KO because that card perform 27% (on avg) better than the stock 2060. Add optifine to it and boom, you have an amazing card for blender.

Might want to reduce the voltage to your CPU, I've heard that it's bad to go above 1.33 on new Ryzen

Pretty good find though, I also had a 30€ monitor used for like 2 years but then it broke. I guess that was still a good deal though. Now I got my hands on a 24G2u and I'm very happy with it.

But yeah I was asking because I think for 1080p 60hz the 1660 super is enough, for 144hz for example I would think the 2060 is the better choice.

I have a optix MAG27C 144hz monitor. 27in. Got a good deal on it and it's amazing. Unfortunately cant use the frame sync option since I don't have and AMD graphics card.

Cooler was a birthday gift from a friend, don't plan on returning it lol.

Just pretty much strictly for gaming. Don't really do any editing or streaming. Use it for school work as well but that just includes using word, powerpoint, etc.

Yeah in that case why don't you get a 5600xt or a 5700 instead, not sure what the pricing is in your region but they should be around 2060 price.

Unless you have a future need for RT voice, keep the card you have.

The monitor works with Nvidia.

 

Go to your settings and turn on Gsync compatible.

Thanks, tweaked it to 1.275, would that be safer? Iv'e noticed after intense gaming, if I were to shut my PC down it would restart as if it crashed. Was thinking that might be due to the voltage

It's faster, it is more comparable to the 2060/2060 super. The card had a bit of a weird launch where they changed the card's bios last minute. So some cards ship with new and some with old bios. With the new bios it is nearing 2060 super performance in some games. If you think about it that's pretty strong for $270 vs the $380 2060 super or the $300 2060. 

1660 super is slower but of course also starts at $225

that would be a much more comfortable voltage, for sure. Did changing the voltage to this lower value improve your situation?

Didn’t help unfortunately. I returned it to stock clock time and am swapping out my 550W battery for a 650W, hope this helps my issue.
