Advice Please - Newbie Build

Hi

Need some advice please.

Building a PC, its not going to light anyone's world on fire, but it will do.

Uses: Playing older games (battlefield 2 / battlefield 1942 / that 2005 era) plus my daughter to learn PC basics, homework, Win10, Office 2019, etc.

Dont want anything fancy as the PC is likely to get beaten up by a 1yr old.

So....

I have some donor motherboards & CPUs and not sure which would be best.

Option 1:

Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H Motherboard with a Phenom II X2 255 CPU

Option 2:

A Dell Precision T3500 with a Intel® Xeon® Processor W3530

I'm leaning towards Option 2. Is that right?

Cheers for the advice in advance!

Battlefield 2, 1942, and even 2142... great series by the way would run on any of these machines. I would recommend option 1 as it doesn't use OEM parts, the Dell would be limited in expandability as parts for it would need to come from Dell, if you were to upgrade it, like memory or cpu.

Cheers, Heard that Dell did limit the upgrade options, but wasn't aware of the memory.

2142 was good as well! Having a "reliving my youth" moment.

Cheers all.

Yep, time when old AGP cards, and single channel memory was a thing. Hopefully it works out, enjoy the rig!
