I'm not sure if im understanding it right, but no im not going to do direct die cooling. Had bad experience with it (broke the silicon of my old i3 when trying it)

You can just apply liquid metal betwenn the heatspreader and the cpu. Should give me arround -20*C under full load :)

I know what you meant.

TBH if you get spaces to so around the die like older CPUs used to have it would be pretty hard to break the thing... Mind you, I wouldn't do it myself. But it is possible.

Have had the same issue a while ago. For me the only way to fix it was to reinstall the nvidia driver. Mybe you could try

echo "1" > /sys/bus/pci/devices/$NUMBER/reset

while $NUMBER is the device id you get from lspci -vv (vv only if i remember right) to powercycle just this one card

I just did a full reboot as this system only has the one card anyway.

Not like foldatron, urgh... 4 cards from 3 different generations of team green, is a bitch to maintain.

On Ibercivis, I have some jobs taking 2h10m. 13052020_R60_L000004 series

Then I have the ones that take 15h54m. 2604202_R04_L000007 series

Wish i knew which was the best one to run for credit! :)

Anyone else has this issue?

When the project was announced the tasks at that time were long and they since released shorter tasks. I believe @leadeater found they both award more points for the longer tasks

Points awarded are based on run/computation time so it makes not difference other than as it gets closer to the end of that event you want to only be running the short jobs or they won't complete by the deadline of the event.

I’ve surpassed 1200 tasks pending validation on Amicable. I hope people release their bunkers so I can get all those points. That’s over 8 mil points. Probably going to be a wild finish on this one tomorrow.

I have about 200 of the ibercivis 2 hour tasks ready to rock once the sprint opens, and have both computers cranking on a backlog till then. Should be able to get around 50 more units done.

Are you guys running Amicable CPU Task? I remember there were errors running it. Is it still a problem? Because I just re enabled it and there are so many tasks available for cpu.

Gotta get your cooling setup properly folks.

25C (77F) in my basement. Have the window open and have a 24" box fan hanging from the ceiling joists to blow heat into the rest of the house when it gets too warm. Luckily it's been relatively cool here the last week or so and the BOINC GPU tasks don't run the GPUs nearly as hot as F@H does.

I'll have to start shedding load once this is over and I switch back to F@H. Dial the GPUs back to 75% max power or so to start and when the A/C season starts I'll likely studown my 6 GPU rig.

other random observations.

Amicable GPU tasks take just a few minutes.. maybe 5 minutes.. but 1 of those minutes its just filling up memory.. So during that time it does nothing. 1 task takes up 95% of my GPU.. but Im experimenting with 2 tasks at once so they can stagger processing during memory filling.. we will see

Please let us know what you figure out. Once I dump my ibercivis tonight I am going to get some GPU tasks. I had the same memory filling problem. I have 16gig in the system, and when running Amicable GPU and Rosetta? (which wanted 1gig per core) It would loop between them. So only one or the other would run and when they were most of the time would be just memory filling. I toggled cores back from 12 to 7 and it worked fine.

Running a single Amicable task takes around 5 minutes

Running 2 Amicable tasks, staggered, makes 2 task take 9m15s or so.

Im only saving a few seconds, but it's better and since I have the memory im going to let it run.

Sounds good, I think for me (16gig) it makes more sense to just run one instance and then however many cores memory will allow past that. Means I am going to be running only like 60% on the CPU, but at can at least run both.

Does anyone know how Amicable creates all that data into memory, is that reading from disk? Or is it data that is being created and dumped into memory? Does storage speed  matter? I have my saves on my HDD, just because I was low on space on my SSD.
