Will come in two versions, the plus model gets the 865 where the cheaper model will use the Qualcomm 765G instead.

The Motorola Edge and Edge+ have been on our radar for a while. We first shared photos of a new 5G Motorola phone with a “waterfall display,” a first for the company, back in February. That was for the standard Edge, but then the Edge+ model showed up a little earlier in leaked press renders. Now, Motorola has announced they will be unveiling at least one flagship smartphone next week. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown precautions throughout the world, Motorola will obviously not be holding a physical event. Instead, the online “e-vent” is scheduled for April 22nd at 11:00 AM CT (12:00 PM ET). The teaser video shows off the aforementioned curved “waterfall” display that will be present on both the Motorola Edge and Edge+. We don’t know for certain if Motorola will be showing off the Edge, but we do know for certain that the Edge+ is coming to Verizon. It’s very possible that both devices will be announced, but it’s not a sure thing. The Motorola Edge+ is the higher-end device with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, while the Edge has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765. Here’s a little recap on what we know about the Motorola Edge series: The display is 6.67-inches with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and a 90Hz refresh rate. There is a tiny, singular hole-punch cutout in the top left corner. The Edge+ device will have up to 12GB of RAM, a 5,000mAh+ battery, support for 5G, and Android 10. Thoughts: Considering the launch of the Oneplus 8, Motorola better have some competitive specs AND price to stay on the market, the photos shown last week doesn't bode well.

"Flagship" - Yeah, not with a Snapdragon 765... The OnePlus 8 still features an 865.

I'm honestly more interested in this than the OnePlus 8. Hopefully it's priced well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Nothing special, rather meh. It's so ugly as well. Punch hole, yuck, edge display, yuck. The phones designs like it are complete trash.

It's not a gimmick, it can be genuinely useful. I actually prefer screens with curved edges.

 

Motorola is perfectly capable of making devices. They were hamstrung by the MotoMods, and now that they don't have to produce phones with those in mind they're more open to expand their flagship portfolio. They've often had a very light skin, and their displays are top notch. They're also very good at design, as they had the slimmest phone for ages with the Z series. There's nothing special in the OnePlus 8, they don't even hold a good value proposition anymore. Depending on the price of this, it easily could, plus it has a larger scree, significantly larger, battery, etc.

How can it be useful?

 

I know they are capeable of making a device; just not capeable of making competitive devices right now.

 

It's not just OnePlus that they compete with, but also Xioami, OPPO and Vivo, which have gotten very good at manufacturing generic high end smartphones, which this is.
