Best Case Fan Configuration

Either will work. Since rad is on top, doesn't really matter which way its mounted. As intake it will be bit cooler than as exhaust.

Ok, so I have a case (Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB SE) that comes with 3 120mm fans, then I have 1 extra identical fan, and I have a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum cpu cooler (w/ 2 120mm fans). I currently have 2 possible configurations (see professionally designed images below). Both of them have the radiator mounted in the top, 3 front fans and 1 rear. Basically I’m trying to figure out whether I should mount the radiator fans as intake or exhaust. I’m torn because I know it would be better for dust if I mounted them as intake, but I feel like there could be some problems associated with a 5 intake/1 exhaust ratio. I’m running a stock R7 3700X and RTX 2080, and I don’t plan on OCing at any point in the near future, so to me dust buildup is a bigger worry than thermals. Any help / suggestions are much appreciated!

There's no really BEST setup. Personally, I would always go of an Intake=Exhaust+1 configuration, So 3 intake(static-pressure) fans for 2 exhaust(airflow optimized) fans. Besides that:

1. I'd add a filter on my intakes intake section as well. Reason why intake is static-pressure and the N+1 thing.

2. PSU airflow pointing out the case (typically at the bottom)

3. CPU fan is of static-pressure type and is positioned parallel to an exhaust fan.

There's no really best setup. Linus and Luke even have the 1-year airflow test:

I would do config B, it seems as the first config has too many intakes.
