Ram loose inside of motherboard

This is my first time building a computer and I have encountered a problem. The DRAM debug light in the motherboard is on when I turn on the computer and the RAM is loose inside of the slot.

When I put in the RAM, even with the pins in to secure it in place, it can still be moved around easily and can even slide out with little to no effort. Is the hardware defective or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Did you press the memory down hard enough to feel the clips on both ends snapping into the memory stick? The amount of force needed could be absurdly high for a new builder but that's how it is.

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s
