Keep or upgrade my PSU

Denil4d2

Hi, so i am upgrading my computer.

im upgrading to:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

GPU: 1660 Super

RAM: Corsair vengeance ddr4-3000 2x8gb

SDD m.2: Kingston A2000 250gb

I am wondering if my Corsair CX750M, 750W PSU, will hold up or do i need to buy a new one.

And if i need a new one which watt tier should i get?.

Thanks.

I would go to pc part picker and spec out your build, it will give you a estimated power usage, but just at a glance, 750w is probably already overkill for your system as the cpu+gpu uses up to 190W I believe and with 750W PSU you have a lot of room for future upgrades

It's a B Tier PSU so it's fine, but I have to ask a couple questions.

What year did you buy it and is it the 2012, 2015 or 2017 version?

Is it still in warranty?

What country are you shopping from and what is your budget?

Even the 2012 PSU is fine. I was just curious which version you got. And it's up to you if you want to buy a PSU with a warranty, but your current PSU should be fine for those specs.

That's a lot of versions there.  What if I told you were there only two versions and the only difference was the brand of MOSFETs:

Since there is no "2012" version of the CX750M, that's not likely.  😉

Well, this is why it's good to have actual PSU experts on forums. I just went off the PSU list real quick.

In any case, OP should be fine re-using it.
