5G Masts set light to, Engineers attacked over virus rumours

Mobile phone masts have been torched amid theories linking coronavirus to 5G, despite ministers saying there is no credible evidence to back them.

Masts were set alight in Sparkhill, Birmingham, on Thursday and Melling, Merseyside, on Friday.

Trade body Mobile UK said false rumours and theories linking 5G and coronavirus were "concerning".

 

Amazing how ignorant some people are. Radio waves have been around us for years, and are non-ionising so lack the power to affect DNA, nor can the carry anything such as virus cells.  Some people will believe everything they read on the internet. Facebook have removed a few pages where these rumours have spread.

YouTube have also taken down a few videos making the claims too. 
 

The line here has been crossed when telecoms engineers have been threatened and attacked.

In addition to warning on the theories about the safety of 5G technologies, Mobile UK added: "More worryingly some people are also abusing our key workers and making threats to damage infrastructure under the pretence of claims about 5G.

"This is not acceptable and only impacts on our ability as an industry to maintain the resilience and operational capacity of the networks to support mass home working and critical connectivity to the emergency services, vulnerable consumers and hospitals."

Tragic but still somehow funny. The deranged and hysterical have existed since the dawn of man, and with every new mob outrage over something like this, I can't help but gawk.

Facebook is honestly one of the greatest fucking diseases in history.... I don't know what it is about that place but it just seems to be a breeding ground for retards.

5G has been shown to screw with our radar technology for weather so 5G does have some concerns

Having seen some vague references & discussion around this a couple of days ago, the types that would generally believe this type of rumor wouldn't torch towers. They'd build faraday cages in their homes. So, this is either "local issue we actually don't want to talk about", "we invented this 5G theory to cover something else" or "local gangsters aren't getting their cut and can use the internet as well to find cover". Have to pick some version of those options.

There was a facebook group dedicated to people posting pictures of them destroying 5G equipment. Just because you think "those types" of people would do X, Y, or Z doesn't mean squat as to what's happening. This also isn't an isolated incident, this has been going on for many weeks now.

I understand the prone-to-theories types quite well, which is why I said there's clearly a separate issue. The UK-based Anti-5G stuff is interesting, but, like most things, there's something more going on. Local Youths finding a cover to be destructive is high on my list, though.
