In search of a 29" 2k Ultrawide Monitor - AKA a Unicorn

StDragon

So I'm basically asking for a "Unicorn" here. The ideal specs would be as follows....

  • 29" Ultrawide - Because it's the ideal size while sitting at a desk 2ft to 2.5ft away. A 34" would become tiresome due to the head pivoting constantly left and right.
  • 2k (3440x1440) - Because it's the sweetspot in native resolution that doesn't tax the GPU as hard as 4k, and because I actually want to read text without too much eye strain. And yes, DPI scaling exists in Windows, but it's all over the place in reliability with legacy Win32 apps; specifically if you go 200% and beyond).
  • $350 range - Because it's reasonable price to expect when a VIOTEK GNV34DB (34") lists for $380 on Amazon and it's a larger screen. Not a deal breaker, but basically a price "within reason".

Play any FPS games on it? I'm open to the suggestion of going 34", but when I pulled out the measuring tape to get an idea of how wide that would be, to me that seems a bridge too far. It's the same reason that I wouldn't use three 16:9 monitors in a row to multitask. While useful for working, constantly shifting focus in such a setup for e-mail, documents, and monitoring becomes too fatiguing after several hours. Hence why I prefer just one large Ultrawide. To each his/her own I guess.

I mostly play grand strategy but i've played a fair bit of Insurgency on it and it was entirely satisfactory

Did you measure 34" diagonally or horizontally.
