Motherboard supports ram speed up to 2666 but it wont go past 2400.

I have a MSI B360 gaming plus and I have 2666 mhz DDR ram. I enabled XMP to get the advertised 2666 but the speed won't go past 2400.

System Specs:

CPU: i3 8100

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

G.Skill DDR4 2666mhz 8GB

It's possible that it may be due to the fact that the Intel Core i3-8100 only supports up to 2400 MHz. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/126688/intel-core-i3-8100-processor-6m-cache-3-60-ghz.html

If so, you'd need a Z370 or Z390 board to overclock to 2666 MHz or a CPU that supports 2666 MHz such as the Intel Core i7-8700K.
