Hey guys first post here!

I want to updrage my PSU for a future GPU upgrade (3070 if available or second hand 2070,2080 or even 5600xt, i don't really Care).

I actually upgraded my old rig with some New parts since i have a job!

I have now

-r5 3600

-msi MORTAR b550

-pny nvme 1to

-gtx 1060 Armor 6go

-crucial 120go SSD

-1to HDD WD

-Cooler master hyper black edition (forgot the full ref)

-and a 500 or 550w thermaltake smart rgb (i bought it After my old cx500 dire After 6-7 years)

-a brunch of fans

i don't know how much watts i need for a future upgrade. I was looking for 650-700w if i can get my hands on a 3070, what u guys think about ?

I just want to point out that I got a max of 250W in benchmarking with an undervolted 3070 and 5900X. 350W in stock. No more than a 500W PSU would be needed.

Ryzen 5600x

ASUS ROG Strix B550-F

1 TB NVME SSD

1 TB 7200 RPM HDD

Corsair RM750 (new and grey label)

We're currently using this build with a R9 380 and my friend await stocks for a RX 6800xt. This table confused my friend and he wanted to learn if he really needs 850W for some specific 6800xt models. Do you think RM750 would be fine with all these models? Or should we stick to the 750w recommendations?

FWIW I've been running a 3070 vision OC (Max power draw 300w) on a 500w Bequiet psu just fine... NOT A SINGLE CRASH, better than average benchmarks.

I just got a 650w Bequiet now because I don't think the 500w would have been good long term or provide any overclocking potential.

Erm... quality isn't really linked with certification as much as you're making it out to be

80+ Platinum is a very safe bet.

???

Platinum/Titanium class PSU's have much more stable 3.3v power delivery (usually +/- 2.5% on the 3.3v) which is MUCH better for memory function.
Gold class PSU's can get a bit unstable on the 3.3v (usually +/- 4.5% on the 3.3v).

What?! This is just wrong. That's not what any of this means. 80+ is a measure of efficiency. Nothing more.

A quality 450w is all you need for gaming, but if your 9900k and 2080ti are both under full load (from applications like folding@home), it's going to be drawing about 500w on stock settings, 550w with the 9900k clocked at 5.0Ghz all-core. So a quality 650w would give you 100w of headroom (minus whatever wattage your storage and RAM draw, but it's minuscule) in the worst case scenario.

how about 600 watt for 3070 gpu with ryzen 5600

That would depend entirely on which PSU it is. There is more to a PSU than just the wattage

I don't know many 600w PSUs, but if it's something like the Corsair SF (if you are doing a SFF build), it should be fine

CPU: i7-8700k

CPU Cooler: MSi 360mm AIO water cooler

Motherboard: MSi Z370 Tomahawk

SSD: Crucial P1 m.2 1TB + Samsung PM961 256GB

HDD: WD Green 1TB 5400RPM + WD Ultrastar 6TB 7200RPM

RAM: T.Force 16GB (2x 8GB) 2666MHz

GPU: GIGABYTE RTX3060 Gaming OC 12G

PSU: Antec NX 650W

Planning to install my old MSi GTX 1060 6GB armor for a little bit more mining power so as to mine for a bit when I am off to work.

At the same time, there is a discount for Antec HCG 850W for about 115USD, and a Seasonic GX1000 for 155USD,

According to the PSU tier spreadsheet,

Antec HCG 850W is a A-tier

if 850W is enough for gaming and mining for my machine, I think I am going for it.

But the question is, how much power does my machine need? As some power supply calculator left 3060 not an option, I am kinda confused...

Thanks a lot!

probably a stupid question, but here it goes anyways, Ive got a i5-10600k CPU and a Nvidia GT 1030 GPU not yet hooked up to the motherboard atm,  is there any chance my 650 watt PSU will fry any of the components, if the wattage is too high?

How the hell PSU manufacturers are supposed to test their PSUs with upcoming GPUs if they don't get them ? There's probably like 50 labs for all even remotely important labs of PSU manufacturers, surely they can part with 50 GPUs per launch, is nVidia that greedy ? Does AMD send out samples ?

I can't get samples from AMD either.  The GPU guys are focused on getting their cards in pre-builds.  So the only cards they send out is to SI's.  So, if they send a card to Corsair, it ends up at Origin.  For "DIY" customers, they essentially want the customer base to be the beta testers.

The crazy thing to me is that - apparently - you have to buy the cards with your own money from retailers/scalpers to do the testings.
Can't the company afford to spend 10Ks on a bunch of scalped cards?
Does the head of PSU R&D really have to wait in line for months and spend his own cash to do the testings?

Yes.  LOL!

Don't get me wrong... I expense it.  But I do have a budget.  😄

So my build:

AMD 5600x

ASRock x570 Steel Legend

16GB DDR4 3200mhz

1 SATA SDD

1 SATA 7500 HDD

Corsair H100i AIO

Asus TUF 3080 OC

My Custom Build - Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core, GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB TUF GAMING OC, Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker

Is my PSU got the juice? Seems like it by my calculations?

It might work, but there are a lot of shutdown reports in GA. Also, there are no detailed reviews and it looks bad. Replace when you can afford it.
