This preset is about getting the most "neutral" sound for listening to music etc. For gaming try the built in functions like surround and the FPS presets.

Most voice chat applications have automatic mic level control, so you'd have to see in the one you use if it has an option to disable that. Nothing to do with the headset/mic.

Hi all,

So I recently bought G935 based on pretty good reviews around the net, but boy was I surprised when first heard them in game. Extra muddy and bass heavy out of the box. Tried all kind of fixes with EQ and enabling/disabling surround, but still can't find a sweet spot.

I'm a retro guy and mostly just play CS GO. Maybe any advice on proper settings for this game? Including the surround settings? Thanks!

My second set of headphones are AudioTechnica`s ATH-MX50 and man, those are marvelous. Crisp, bass is just right and you can easily pinpoint other players. Just the lack of wireless and mic made me look for another set. Should have gone for the ATH-M50xBT better instead, so guys think over carefully when choosing headsets and maybe it is worth to save 50 EUR more and get a proper sound. + I'm not a fan of RGB too :D

Maybe I've spoiled my ears with good headphones, but if these headphones were the winners of your comparison then I can't imagine how bad were the other headsets.

Edit:

Seems that the surround was making this muddiness.

Now I am using these settings without surround and these seems kind of OK:

The EQ settings for the Corsair Virtuoso RGB SE were ALMOST PERFECT for me. I just needed to turn on "Link Sliders" & turn up the 32Hz & 64Hz sliders a bit & now I am damn impressed with this sound profile. Thanks for posting this!

For those who want to know how I tweaked my EQ Profile from the one provided by Colin, I attached a screenshot to this post.

does somebody know what the best settings are for (G935) music?

I usually just turn off EQ and Surround, and set bass to 4DB, leave treble 0DB. Have you found your setting for music?

@ColinLTT

Hi Colin,

Is it possible for you to give the +/- dB numbers you used for the Corsair tuning please.

Thanks

For the Astro A50's, the sound profile you have there is extremely muffled.

Yes, this thread is being necro'd but I just wanted to come in here to say thanks for posting this. I completely agree that Colin's sound profile for the A50's is very muffled. Maybe it was built specifically for music, (haven't tested that out) or maybe it's just a case of, like a colorist, spending too much time looking at it and needing to go away and come back to it, but for gaming is was definitely not usable.

This EQ is soooo damn good. It basically gets rid of the kinda weird treble and "distant" sound feeling it has out of the box.
