Thoughts on the Cooler Master Masterkeys CK550 w/red gateron switches

renchy_is_sketchy

Looking to upgrade my 13$ keyboard which sounds like a typewriter.

Is the Cooler Master Masterkeys CK550 w/red gateron switches a good option?

Have to admit never heard of gateron switches, was only familiar with cherry mx ones.

From what i watched just now they're pretty on par if not better.

Thoughts?

This is one of those instances where I wanted to like the keyboard, but just can't.

Couple weeks ago I got a CK550 with Browns and one with Reds for at work to try out and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed with it.

The switches feel about on par with the Cherry equivalents, that's no problem (well.. I don't like Reds, so that may be an issue here), but the thin keycaps, light&hollow chassis does not make for a great typing experience. It was also rather loud, in a 'ping' noise type of way

It's not much cup of tea and I would rather get the older MasterKeys series of keyboard. I tried a 40 USD Aliexpress keyboard from a colleague and it felt much better.

But you should really try it out yourself to see if you like it.

Look into redragon keyboards, they are very sturdy.
