Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Do not use beta. Advanced is okay for you. If you do not care about PPD, put next-unit-percentage to 90 as that will get WUs ASAP.

Thanks. I wasn't sure about beta that's mainly why I asked. I'll leave next-unit-percentage at 90 for now and as the amount of work increases slowly work it up until I find the number that works best.

I picked up a nice deal for Radeon 5700xt, I am running it with ryzen 3600 and getting 1.2 to 1.4M PPD + CPU. Super happy with the performance!  That also freed up my Geforce GTX 960 to pair it with another old GTX 960 and that machine is running for ~400kPPD.  Gonna continue until I see the electric bill 🤣

@GOTSpectrum Hi, I see that I was lucky and won a Steam key.

While I am happy that I was lucky enough to win, I don't have a use for it, or even know what it is used for, so if you'd like please feel free to donate it to someone who can use it and will be happy to receive it.

Best wishes from MichaelAdler

There were a couple times late 2017 / early 2018 where CureCoin broke 60 BILLION points produced in a month... It looks like that record *could* get shattered this April by any (or all) of these top 3 teams if they can keep up the pace!

Call in now, they shouldn't demand you to send the computer anywhere till it is safe to do so, to them right now nothing is wrong with your computer if they know now they might put your warranty on hold or do something else for you. COVID isn't going to be leaving us any time soon sadly, even tho I want it to end asap as well.

Just reporting in....looks like I hit over a 1mil finally...old Q9550 and GTX 680 adding it's little bit to the pile. I thought the old Beast would have died by now....the Ryzen 3900 is looking really good 😉 Can't justify it just yet though. I'm not sure if the fan on my Seasonic 1000 Titanium has even spun up once though....that thing is awesome. If it has I can't hear it over the case and CPU heat sink fans....good thing they are Noctua.

But why does your graph go down to zero at the end? 🤨 Must just be changing out some more hardware for even more points? 😜

Does anyone know why my cpu (i7-6700) gets WO's all the time but my gpu (980ti) gets only two or 3 a day? My gpu sits idle more than 66% of the day.

WUs are different for CPU and GPU.

CPU WUs are 'GRO_A7' while GPU WUs are 'OPENM_22'

With Ubuntu 18.04 ending support sooner than later I decided to be forward looking and install the beta of 20.04 which is supported until 2023. FAHControl has unmet dependencies and getting it working is a real bear. Back to 18.04. I guess it needs python2!? That's pretty jank...given that Python2 is basically EOL and dead in the water Ubuntu since 19.1 has quit supporting it. Kind of annoyed that I spent all this time getting 20.04 up and running and then have this trap sprung on me.

Necromancy complete, Athlon 4200+ is now folding, sure it'll take more than 2 and a quarter days for a work unit, but its folding.  Now to get it's GPUs to pull their weight.

And now with Xubuntu 18.04 installed and the 'best' Nvidia driver installed FAHcontrol can't find a GPU when I try to set one for a slot. Fantastic. lspci lists the P106 as a 3D something instead of a VGA something so that's probably the problem. It was working fine in Ubuntu 18.04 in the other PC which had a GTX 650 installed along side. I'm going to try some different driver versions and then Ubuntu 18.04 and if none of that works I'll put it back in the water cooled tower and make sure it still works then see if I can shrink that partition down to fit on the 16GB SSD and clone it over I guess...??

tldr; I break anything I touch that was already working and nothing ever 'just works' for me.

Can confirm that running the beta of Ubuntu 20.04 and I can't install FAHControl because of python2. Back in 19.10 I could hack it and install a fake package which was python2-gnome or something like that because it was missing that package but with 20.04, python3 is the default and only python. FAH team should look into that.

Yup, could not get the 19.1 work around to work either and wasn't going to spend hours trying when they're hopefully updating the FAHControl soon*

*soon would have been years ago honestly

For 19.10, you're still able to hack it by creating a fake deb using equivs.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1217195/how-to-install-folding-at-home-foldinghome-fahcontrol-on-ubuntu-19-10

Follow the top answer. It worked for me. The you'll need to download the GPU whitelist.

sudo wget http://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/GPUs.txt -P /var/lib/fahclient/
