Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Ended up on Rank 994 :)

Got Rank 289 with my 2 machines, that's a good performance for the first time. Won a steam key. It is going to be a great birthday tomorrow for me 😃

Rank 1602, nearly 4mil points and 117wu not bad for r5 3600 and 2060s working 8hr/day. I'm so impressed that I've maged to reach upper half of the event group even though points go nearly logarithmically 😅

I wonder if there will be an end of event vid on the tube.

And if certain people will drop things.

Is that an original IBM with the moving plate cap pickups, or the later IBM by Lexmark dome pickup junk?

I've got a couple of both, the original is a LOT better overall.

This is an IBM Model M "Manufactured for IBM by Lexmark", as indicated in the tag on the bottom. It is from April 1994, part #82G2383.
It's a third generation model as detailed here: https://deskthority.net/wiki/IBM_Enhanced_Keyboard
Sports the wonderful buckling spring switches. Not selling it at all, hopefully this post or I won't be banned here for sharing these details :)
Here a teaser photo of the keycaps, and the label on the bottom:

Sharing my progress! Not as powerful of a system as you guys have.

Running at 12-Logical Cores @ 2.1GHz | Intel Xeon 4110 | Have to leave the remaining 4-cores alone since I'm running a few servers. Started last April 6image.thumb.png.63fb8c3572dc8e7d1232e381723e6c9a.png

Sounds like you're getting most of the bad luck from this folding event and post-of.  Don't worry, I took some with a windows re-image because the software refused to run again after two BSODs from screwing with stuff. Hopefully you don't get much/any more bad luck on parts.

On my oldest (FX8350 RX480) PC only a single RAM slot is being detected. The 2 year old PC (8700K 1080TI) Posts then says I have no OS. Happened this morning. Nothing changed. It's a lonely M.2 that works just fine in another PC. So yeah. Fun.

Son of Foldy Puff Jr is assembled, waiting on OS install tomorrow evening likely. Jank PC, Seasonic 350W PSU with a 2X Molex to 6 pin PCIe power adapter in a case that I think might pre-date Y2K that still has a PATA CDROM and a Floppy drive screwed into it because I can't be assed to remove them, a de-lidded then Kryonaut pasted Celeron G1820 under an Arctic 12 passive heat sink and 2x2GB DDR3 1600 CL9 on a H97 board. The board is the best thing in the PC and the only spare that's got PCIe 3.0x16, 2nd slot is 2.0x8 I think so maybe it'll get another P106-100, but the used one in there has 2 mis-matched AMD heat sink fans on it. May break down and order some matching fans if I can get some cheaply.

Demoted Foldy Puff JR to GPU folding only.

Foldy Puff Sr has been having a hard time getting GPU WU's but steady CPU work with 3X 4 core CPU slots.

What are the best setting for client-type and next-unit-percentage ?

I currently have client-type set to advanced, what are the + / -'s for setting it to beta ?

All through the event I had next-unit-percentage set to 98 and that seemed to work for me as I almost always had the next WU ready to go as the last one finished. Since yesterday I have it set at 90 and I getting a lot of idle GPU time (CPUs are still doing fine at 98). From what I understand reading what some of the regular folders have said there is an unusual lack of GPU WU's at the moment but under normal circumstances what would be the best setting for this ?

I should say I'm not looking to maximize my points so much as I am looking to maximize the number of WUs I do. I am quite happy to sacrifice a few points to have less idle GPU time, for me this is personal and it really is about getting the science done more than the glory.

After digging though my office for random bits, stealing from other systems, sacrificing some parts from a planned ebay part ITX build I started, but had no case for and a little 3D printing and zip ties to fill in the gaps of a makeshift body on a monitor stand, this abomination what brought online.

When powered, its first words to me were "What is my purpose?" and I said "To fold for LTT!", and that is what it is doing ever since...

Do not use beta. Advanced is okay for you. If you do not care about PPD, put next-unit-percentage to 90 as that will get WUs ASAP.
