Yeah thats more or less what I meant, since your using a mining card I don't know what the drivers look like on linux (I've never had a mining card) but if your using standard drivers (GTX version I mean) for the mining card, there's probably some miss-match or inefficiency somewhere on there. Nvidia always can be tricky to get right under linux.
Do you mean modded BIOS as in a different one from the regular GPUs using a TPU 106 die? (So that would be a 1060 if I'm not mistaken right?)

Card is a P106-100, which is the mining version of a GTX 1060 6GB. It should use the same 435 drivers under Ubuntu as a 1060, it does correctly idtentify in FAH and Linus (lspci) as a GP106-100 card. This is also not a fresh install of Ubuntu, I pulled this SSD from a different PC which had an Atom and Ion combo board. I'll reserve judgement until the 24hrs is up and until I've gotten it into the final board with a fresh install of Xubuntu with the correct drivers and tools and everything loaded up. I did find a tool that may let me get a better look at the card called 'green with envy' so I'm working on messing with that in between some other house work today.

Thank you, I was able to add a slot for GPU and I see GPU showing up in the System Info so I guess it is working.  Thanks again for helping out this noob!

No worries, happy to help.

Hopefully an easy question...

I just got a video card and installed it.  It's still only picking up CPU WUs after about 24ish hours.  Is there anything I need to do to let them know they can use video too.  Is there still somewhat of a shortage of GPU WUs or do they just like my CPU better than my video card that is only an RTX 2060 Super with all the much faster video cards out there?  I don't care which type of WUs I get just want to make sure they can use whichever they want.

Thanks!

Still a pretty decent card nowadays! :)

Still folding on a smaller cluster (7M PPD). Set up a green screen so I can have fun with all these Zoom calls.

Is that a light or space needle in the corner

Should know if it's working in a few minutes after the current CPU WU finishes up thanks to a tip from Tomatodude95 about adding a slot!  Great forum, great people!

I'm guessing it's the drivers. PCIe bandwidth isn't really an issue for folding. I have an old GTX 770 running in a probably broken slot that only get 3.0 x1 bandwidth and it performs as it should/did before it was bumped by the upgrade.

Folding actually is limited by bandwidth for newer cards, it's just that you are using old ass card which wouldn't even utilize x4 slot.

Ok, good to know and thanks for the clarification. But how dare you go after my 770 like that 😉... that was once my pride and joy😀.

To spec and the pros.

What flag to run long term for set it and forget.   My work PC sits idle by itself most nights and I want it to get good WUs but whats the best to leave it at when you rarely check?  beta?  Nothing?  advanced?

At least advanced these days, but even then sometimes it takes my GPU 30 minutes to find a WU.

I know, no worries, that's why I put the 😉 there. Probably wouldn't be in my system right now if it wasn't just to get that bit of extra PPD when folding.

0.526 * 60 * 24 = $757.44/day

Or in gamer math, 1 RTX 2080 Super per day.

@Macaw2000 was running them as preemptible instances. Way cheaper that way

Are you sure you are not bottlenecking the heck out of those cards? I wouldn't be surprised if your PPD was below 1M.

No because it is set on Client-type advanced and AMD cards have a low PPD on beta work loads... On normal projects the cards reached 380.000 per card...

What do you mean? I am not talking about software modifications, you are bottlenecking them by using PCIe risers (as far as I can see). Also, it is not true that AMD cards have low PPD on beta WUs, I had up to 20% or more when I used it for short period.

Please, humor me, I would love to see a screenshot with all of those cards having 2.4M PPD.
