Personally, I think violating the TOS of another company to get your stats higher in a competition on here, should get one immediately disqualified from said competition.

It's an unfair/unethical advantage.

Ohhh c'mon. Google doesn't need you policing for them. They are plenty smart.

My hope is that people here who are dabbling in cloud, use this time to learn better cloud skills and up their game. If you want to make the big bucks, learn to cloud and learn to automate the cloud!

Further Down in the tutorial.

To set up a budget go to the Billing tab and it will have a part called billing health check. Click on the lightbulb icon, and google should walk you through from there.

I just have the web terminal window always open. Same for 2 other cloud providers I'm testing. You can do

watch -n 0.5 nvidia-smi

to refresh the nvidia-smi output every 0.5 seconds. (exit with ctrl+c)

The remote control thing from FAH uses Telnet which is very insecure. Use SSH whenever possible. (Google Cloud VM + SSH client requires advanced configuration of iptables, using static ip and maybe more).

I'm on AWS but it looks like GCP has a very similar Budget function. You can put a budget in place: https://cloud.google.com/billing/docs/how-to/budgets

Have you paused your slots and restarted the client by first killing the process in task manager then reopening the client?

Or perhaps you could try a different internet connection. If your phone supports usb tethering, you can plug your phone into a USB port and share Data with your computer.

I have done all that plus Reboots of the systems, I just had more WU's finish and they are not sending either. All 3 PC's I am folding on is having this problem. I will try rebooting them all again.

I rebooted 2 of the PC's F&H apps cold shut downs from task manager and rebooted them. The WU that had been stuck for over 30 hours sent and on my main PC the GPU WU sent. On the laptop still not sending. This is the 3rd restart of the F&H app today the 3rd time fixed about half the issues. Will try again later as well.

you need to do the firewall rule and add your IP to the FAH config

Already added my IP. Do I need to reboot the VM for it to pickup the new firewall rules?

By default, Google blocks all inbound traffic. And you also need to set the IP of the VM to static. Don't ask me how to do all this, I'm new to Google Cloud myself.

No that i know of. Studio is best for video proccessing/editing and general computing tasks and such. The game ready drivers include most if not all the studio drivers stuff anyways.

Okay so turns out that it was the driver, but not that it was out of date as I had the most updated STUDIO driver.  Switched over to the GAMING driver and is now running correctly after restart.

Soooo much more estimated PPD!  Exciting!

Thanks again for your help.  🍻  Salud! 🍻

The IP will only change if the VM restarts and most likely you'll get the same IP back.

Yeah, safety first... You can use CPU fold then (I forget the max CPU amount they allowed on free tier, its like 24CPU or something - but because its vCPU FAHClient only "see" half of them)

Enough to get 100k PPD (if lucky enough to get steady wu)

Darn it, I couldn't resist.

For some reason after following your instructions it didn't add the GPU slots, even adding GPU true to the config didn't do it, I had to add them manually but it immediately worked after that.

Now is there a way to set a limiter on the cost or where the heck should I be looking to see when I've run out of credit?

Is the 3D visualization viewer broken?

I only see it cycling through Demo snapshots and not what is currently being worked on.  I don't need it of course, but thought it'd be cool to see what protein simulation was being worked on similarly to Berkeley's Boinc - Rosetta@home viewer/screensaver.
