LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Man I am definitely seeing the benefit of pausing and restarting folding if you are "stalled".  Almost every time I come back and my CPU isnt doing something, if I pause and resume, it gets a WU

RIP my work PC that is sitting there in 2 hour refresh queues because no one is there to pause and restart!

Set up chrome remote desktop on it and you can just access it remotely through your browser at home 😛

I think hes talking about the CPU WU (its a i7 4940mx (extreme edition) from his post). Since thats a laptop, maybe its throttling? Its quite common.

I'm using macro program like chimpeon to detect imagine pixel like "Attemps: 5" then pause and resume but it's a paid version. I wonder if anyone can write a similar program just for quick fix until there's enough WU for everyone.

Not sure since you are using the web (not advanced) viewer, but the base points make a huge difference as well.  My CPU scores can vary from 2000 to 20000 for roughly the same time frame.

You could script it to see of he fah_core process is running, if after x number of minutes its not then to pause and un-pause it through console commands.

I signed up on both the forum and folding@home a couple of minutes before the deadline, but when I clicked on the "Submit" button in the Google Forms page it was too late.
