On topic, but about remote control of clients. I have my local clients on my LAN able to be monitored, but how would I go about setting up monitoring over a VPN to my other machines. Teamviewer is eventually going to boot me for excessive use... I have a VPN setup, just not sure how this would work exactly, I have never tried to point anything over it and am a bit of a noob with that.

Teamviewer shouldn't boot you for excessive use if you are just logging in to make sure they are behaving correctly.  However if you have a VPN into your LAN, once you connect to the VPN you should be able to RDP/VNC/SSH to the machine you want.

Looking for permission to add capable MH Microcenter computer displays to folding. Sent it in as en emergency action and it's being reviewed by the appropriate people. More details when they come. Likely tomorrow or the day after.

Update on this:

Preliminary approval! Working with IT to get firewalls setup proper to allow connections. If all goes well, it might be chainwide. My store alone should add between 15-40M ppd depending on usage. It may unfortunately have to be under a different team name though. Sadface.

Only TeamView into one local system and monitor from that local system.

I have static IP assignments at work so I just port-forward the control port to an individual port for each system then monitor using the FAHclient on a system at work.

That seems fair, if they are donating their machines and power it seems fair for them to get some nice PR from it.

Hi Team, I am folding for LTT since a few days, all my machines use 1080ti ... they are most of the time doing nothing seriously. Is it normal ? Looking at my folding stats, it's around 3-4 quick jobs that I can catch within a day.

My logs:

Joined the LTT team a few days ago after hearing about the project from the news.  Got 4 different PCs chipping away at this when they draw a golden ticket.

CPUs: 8550U, R7 1700, R7 3700x, and whatever is in a 21.5" iMac from 2013? I got as a hand-me-down from a family member who didn't need it anymore (they upgraded)

GPUs:  2x GTX 1070

Ecstatic to help the cause and finally put my largely unused hardware to good use and prepared for the inevitable griping I'll get about the electric bill (that be damned, this is more important!).  Now to hurry up and wait patiently for them and the LTT crew to get more capacity up and running.

Nice side bonus is I get to see in-depth how the Phanteks shift I'm toastering here works with different fan configs/speeds.  Got it under control thankfully.  North of 85C on the CPU is a bit warm for my preferences.

I'm getting the same. On Sunday my laptops were constantly getting work but it's been really quiet yesterday and today.

EDIT: I didn't read the FAQ thoroughly

To both, my setup is i have my PC here on my LAN, and my old gaming PC I gave my brother (which he never uses cuz #xboxlifeorsomething which is at my parents house. I have a VPN set up between us via 2 raspberry pi's, but.... I really am not very "good" at these things yet. Good opportunity to learn tho.

So, say I want to monitor both from my macbook air. I am on my local LAN, I can get at my gaming PC here just fine via 192.168 etc, but I am not sure how to hit the VPN tunnel. Do I need to try and figure out the VPN's IP of the that R-Pi? And then somehow translate that across to my parents LAN (192.168....?). Like I said, I am NOT good at these things. But theoretically the hard part is done, I have the VPN set up.

Currently the VPN is bound to the R-Pi's wifi adapter, so when I log into my R-Pi's wifi network the devices on that r-pi LAN think they are at my parents house. Ideally, I would like to not need to log into the wifi though, and I think I *should* be able to point at the VPN and get through it from my local LAN, right?

So, I can get at both of them if I connect my macbook to the R-Pi's wifi network. It clearly knows how to traverse both networks, but I would ideally like my Macbook to sit on my LAN wifi, and have it be able to get through the VPN as well. But I guess since I don't have the LAN side bound to the VPN, that won't work as its set up. Whatever, either way.... We got this which is convenient.

What I dont get...

WU that took like an hour...estimated points 100k+...estimated PPD 3Mil

WU finishes and...9000 points...uhhhh that math does not add up.  Even if I kept getting jobs that took a 2080ti an hour to complete (which I would imagine is not small), all day, that would extrapolate to nowhere near 3Mil...more like 260,000 PPD

What do these estimates have to do with reality?  Why are they so many decimal places off?

I do realize these numbers mean nothing at the end of the day, but why so different from predicted?
