Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

I am getting Corona Virus content in my feed. And I was also getting ads on the video?

Maybe because Youtube sees them as ad-friendly?

YouTube has changed policy on COVID and relaxed the rules. With that said vids that have titles like 'An easy cure for COVID-19' will be flagged

Not actually sure. I do get "News" videos about Coronavirus, but a lot of the other stuff is absent. Maybe you've watched more videos about it so youtube is pushing them to you as related videos. Maybe it's your location where lots of other people in your area have watched similar videos. The youtube algorithm is a mysterious beast.

Maybe Youtube isn't killing coronavirus videos as much as I thought they were.

The videos I did watch were relatively big sience channels. With as far as I know good records. So that could be part of it too.

I find it to be very interesting how all the different (tech)companies are reacting to this. (is this a too political/controversial topic?)

I think that conversation would be better on the folding community board in all honesty

Folding@home is easier to use and it does not consume storage space.

Actually I've had more trouble in the past setting up Folding@Home due to OpenCL driver problems and other configuration issues. Setting up Rosetta@Home is much easier, just install BOINC, choose the Rosetta@Home project and log in/ register.  Also when switching to advanced view, the User interface seems better organized and easier to use than F@H, at least for my tastes.

I've been running BOINC / Rosetta for a couple of days and it consumes 1.81GB of storage, does not seem to be much of a problem. If it is, you can set limits in the settings on how much you allow it to use. You can also set memory usage limits, CPU usage limits and other options.

F@H currently has enormous amount of contributors, but Rosetta has many many times less. Seems to me if F@H is struggling to give out WU, it is a good chance to help Rosetta@Home. Who knows which one has the right research strategy, so why not put help both.

Im using CPU for Rosetta and GPU for Folding ... works better due to the fact i get Work from Rosetta for the CPU's 🙂

Jep I a doing the same. Even switching to other BOINC projects if I can't get any WUs.

And as far as i know Covid Projects on Folding are just GPU packages where Rosetta has CPU packages for Covid research. So i think its a good thing 🙂

Still i joined and support LTT on both platforms!

F@H has WU for convit-19 for GPU and CPU.

Rosetta@Home only CPU.

Maybe Youtube isn't killing coronavirus videos as much as I thought they were.

They were initially but not as much anymore. What they try to do is kill the "sensationalist" and misinformative ones and those clickbait ones made with the only purpose of getting views without giving any actual information, not the informative ones and those that help. Obviously not an easy task, and due to the effort needed to produce a good video around it the first slew of videos were almost all the first type.

The excellent kurzgesagt informational video about it obviously got in my feed and is properly promoted, it's about to become their most successful video, 15M views already in just 5 days.

Anyone else getting inconsistent updates on extreme overclockers?

This is what the web control shows:

At least 2 WUs are missing here, they finished at about the same time or even before the one shown, but they didn't show up in the last two updates.
