OC'ing the ThreadRipper 3970x???

I wouldn't expect a hole lot out of that CPU. My 3900X does it's own thing and it's pretty good at it. They boost on their own depending on temperature and without anything it manages like 4.6ghz on one or two Cores. 

 

I'd expect the 3970X to behave similarly. 

 

 

Can you update me again on what the hell that beast PC is used for? ?

Oh Really. So the standard boost is just fine? I was hoping for better numbers in CineBench etc.

 

And the main use is Microsoft Word, I need it to open a few milliseconds faster. ?

 

Seriously, I program and compiling can take some time, but with this thing it is over in an instant.

What does it boost to all core under heavy load? What cinebench numbers do you get?

Better off leaving it stock IMO for the higher single-core boosts. By overclocking you're going to trade like 5% single-core performance for an increase of like 5% multi-core.
