GTX 1070 used???

Hi,

Im currently looking to build a system (in the UK) for a total of £550 and have come to the conclusion that buying a used GPU will, most likely, provide the best performance in this budget.

The current parts list is as follows,

Note : I have a Samsung 860 evo 500gb already

The current used market on ebay (would prefer to use ebay due to buyer protection) has EVGA GTX 1070s for roughly £100 - £125. Is it worth the money considering it is a used card / older architecture? Any recommendations are welcome :D

Thanks,

Lex

Depends, sometimes they do. Sometimes the seller will get his friends account to bid up the price too.

Shockingly not, most of the bids will have someone attempt to snipe it by £2 or so hence the price bracket being £100 - £125

A used GTX 1070 is still a decent enough card.  I had no problems running 60fps on about everything I could throw at it at 1080p.  Granted, I don't game a whole lot so I could be wrong.  But the little I do play, no problems.

Though I just upgraded yesterday to the RTX 2070 super.  Not that I really needed too.  But, I had a few extra dollars sitting around.  :)

I use a 980 Ti (I bought it used), which is basically a 1070 with a much higher TDP. The 1660 Super is also about the same performance, and I'm planning it for an upcoming build. It's great.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

1070ti's aren't going for much more than 1070's are and offer a nice bump in performance. It's like people forgot they exist or something. There's also the Vega 56 if you don't mind AMD.

Used would definitely net you a better card for the money, I'd also take a look over on the Reddit Hardware Swap. Cards go super cheap there all the time.

Yeah, just the way you worded it made it seem otherwise. I've picked up several for around $100. Several more in complete systems costing $400ish.
