Bypassing charging port on old laptop?

It's a little hard for my retarded self to understand what you're asking.

If you're asking if it's possible for you to chop off the dc plug and dc socket from the charger and laptop respectively and then solder the wires together, then yeah, that would work.

Hello! Please excuse me if this is a dumb question, I don't know too much when it comes to electronics, but I was wondering since this charger port broke and since we don't use the laptop anywhere away from a port if I could just take out the port, take off the end of the original charger and solder (well actually just twist them together and tape them) the wires together to complete the connection. Is there anything that could go wrong with this? Is this even possible at all?

(Sorry for the bad quality photos I was using a camcorder, also that gunk on the charger is super glue used as a temporary fix before it completely stopped working... oh and yes that super thin bent back piece of metal was formerly there to hold the port in place)

Take off the port, cut the wires, buy a $5 soldering iron and solder and then insulate the entire area with a big goop of liquid electrical tape.

woah that's not nearly sketchy enough for me
anyway this laptop isn't going to be moved or anything once the job is done and I just need a quick fix

Twisting the wire on is a good way to fry the laptop for no further use.

Good way to buy a new laptop, either way.
