keep in mind the gauge of the thinner wires, I cant really tell the size by the picture

Its called 8 core Signal wire. You can find more links by googling 8 core UL2464

Hello, does anybody know the name of this type of cable? It's for 3.5mm front audio cable. I can buy  this 23AWG wire but this type of isolation....I don't know the name for it.... any help would be much appreciated.

It's just plain copper wires. Maybe it's some copper/aluminum mesh on the outside of the copper wires which are connected to one of the ground wires in the connector.

There's nothing fancy, there's just some black heatshrink at one end.

You can look on Digikey, Mouser, Newark/Farnell, TME.eu, RS Components at cables

I'll point you to Digikey as the filtering menu is easiest to use there

If you know the exact connector, you may be able to find such cable in the "Cable assemblies" section of the site, ready made. However, you can skip the connector by that circuit board and solder the wires directly. On the other end, it's standard dupont (0.1" pitch connector) you can use any crimping tool on it or buy ready made cables.

here's all cables AWG22 or thinner, 8..10 conductors : https://www.digikey.com/short/zq9543

From that list

1 meter Plain 8 wires, AWG26 (typical for 0.1" pitch, computer cable, no braid sleeve) : 30-01319 Tensility International Corp | Cables, Wires | DigiKey

same but awg28 , a bit thinner : 30-00522 Tensility International Corp | Cables, Wires | DigiKey

1 meter, shielding (solder tiny wire to shield/mesh/braid, connect wire to a wire tied to ground, put heatshink over solder point) : 30-00674 Tensility International Corp | Cables, Wires | DigiKey

5 meter lengths : 30-01319 Tensility International Corp | Cables, Wires | DigiKey

Another option would be buying plain single core wire (awg 24, awg 26 etc) and then use sleeve to contain all 8 wires nicely ... examples of single core wires: https://www.digikey.com/short/zq9rt9

You don't want the cheapest, you want to get best deal for length ex you need 8 wires, maybe 1-2m long, so you probably want a 15-25m spool which may be cheaper than buying 8 x 1 m lengths

You may also want to pay a bit more for wire that has a thinner insulation, the cheapest single core wire will have crappier thicker insulation.

sleeve: https://www.digikey.com/short/zq95db (you probably want 4-5 mm diameter, but not sure, depends on thickness of the wires you choose)

  • 3 weeks later...

if you want the front audio to not buzz too you can try do what i do with all cases and stick a ferrite core on that thing. it helps more than people think.
especially in cheap cases.
