Hi, I have a Creative SBS 5.1 560, I want to connect it to a TV. How would I go about this?

The speaker setup uses a 3x 3.5mm cable setup and then the subwoofer acts as a stand-alone amp and splitter, expanding to 2 left and 2 right speakers, as well as 1 center speaker. Most modern TVs do not sport multiple, or even a single 3.5mm port, so how will I be able to connect it? Even using a seperate audio receiver for the TV doesn't solve the issue since it has no 3.5mm ports. What should I do?

Also, what TVs would you recommend that falls under these criteria:

Must be 4K

Must be a smart TV

Must be name brand, (Samsung, LG, Sony).

Must be 40-45" in diagonal size.

Must support some sort of audio out, either that be through HDMI, Toslink, 3.5mm or otherwise.

VESA Mountability.

Nice-to-haves but not necessary (Does not have to fit all of these requirements.):

Gray/ silver exterior.

Good speakers (in case no I can't use the external speakers).

G-Sync/Freesync/Adaptive Sync support.

HDR capability.

Greater than 60hz refresh rate.

I've done this with my Logitech Z-5300's. The process is similar for yours.

Basically you need a DAC with the right connections. You can get that in a few different ways.

The easiest way to do this is to buy a Toslink to RCA/3.5mm converter box. The one that @circeseye linked has both 3.5mm and RCA outputs, so it's ready to go.

You basically just plug a Toslink Optical cable from your TV to the converter  box, then hook up your speaker system to the converter box, and you're basically good to go.

The better (more expensive) way, would be to use an AV Receiver w/ HDMI, and all the modern audio standards (DTS TrueHD/DD HD MA/Atmos, etc). Toslink can only do old school Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1, as it doesn't have enough bandwidth to do HD/Master Audio for 5.1.

With that in mind, I went the way of an audio converter box, and it works great.

I used a generic box off of Amazon. They’re all using the same hardware. It’s not fantastic quality, but it’s usable.

If you need good quality you really need a proper AV receiver.
