RTX 2070 Super overclocking results

Hi, 

 

So I have recently purchased a RTX 2070 Super (the Gigabyte Windforce OC 3X 8G - GV-N207SWF3OC-8GD model) and used MSI Afterburner to overclock it. 

I didn't really find somewhere a comprehensive forum that compares OC results for this card but I have found some user reports here and there and I am a little bit surprised with my results (in a good way). 
 

When I look at the clock speed during a game (Shadow of the Tomb Raider for instance) or run a benchmark I have the following results:

Running at stock speed without any overclock I reach and cruise at 1905 MHz --> That seems pretty higher that what I have seen from other users

With an overclock I can reach a cruise clock speed of 2130 MHz . This is with a core clock of +140 and memory clock of +900 . I can push it a bit more while still being stable but I noticed that my core clock speed won't increase above 2130 MHz

Again, this seems a bit higher than what I've seen from other users. 

 

Anyone on this forum have had similar results or would know whay there seems to be some big differences ?

With overclocks nearly all Turing cards not limited by poor thermals will go past 2GHz, better samples go past 2.1GHz, but 2.2GHz is top bin and top use of material results.

thanks for your reply. I'm fairly new to overclocking so not very much knowledgeable. 
If I understood correctly, graphics cards manufacturer provide different versions of a same GPU , with different coolers, video output support ... 

Gigabyte for instance apply by default a certain overclock to their cards. Looking at their website, the model I have (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N207SWF3OC-8GD#kf) is supposed to be running at 1785 MHz core clock. However the Aorus model (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N207SAORUS-8GC#kf) is supposed to run at 1905 MHz core clock. 

Is it possible they just apply the wrong (better) OC to the card I have ? 

And anyway it shouldn't make any difference since I pushed it higher and could have reached the same results with the same card at 1785 MHz default core clock ? 

 

Also adding my detailed specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x with stock cooler

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16Go (2x8Go) DDR4 3000MHz

MB: Asus rog strix b450-f gaming

Hey @alvinleetya I also have this card and have been messing with it overclocked on it. Mine out of the box was hitting 1975mhz and I overclocked it to 2130mhz at 1087 mV. Now I was using afterburner and gave it a solid +110 overclock on the slider and let us t run multiple games and benchmarks tests with kombuster at the same time for a few hours to make sure it was ok. After that I started tweaking the curve to adjust each voltage and see their max stable MHz. It took awhile but I found with the current bios on that card it will only go up to 1093 mV and not any higher. Now I haven’t upped my 1093 mV yet because I was satisfied with what I got at 1087 and figured eventually I might flash my bios to a different model to ramp up the voltage higher and hit greater speeds. Every card is different so you won’t always see the same clock on everyone. But if you’re getting around 2100 MHz n your stock bios for t might be better to keep them since if you brick your gpu with out them you void your warranty. I will say that if you know what your doing it’s not to hard to flash it again and set it to the original bios, so always save your original if you plan on doing that. Anyway I hope this was helpful.

I ran across this thread when I first started messing around with my Gigabyte 2070 Super OC 3x Windforce and I figured I'd share my results after a few hours of testing and tinkering.

I have an agressive fan profile and a Fractal Design Meshify S2 with 8 case fans, but under load it never goes above 65C. Seems stable so far, and I'm pretty happy it.

 

Here are the benchmark results.

EVGA RTX 2070 Super BLACK GAMING

Maximum temp. 86'C on stress load (may vary)

411FPS on Heaven Benchmark Ultra (Tested with Ryzen 7 5800X at 4.8GHz)

My 2070 Super is watercooled and even with temps never rising above 42c the card cannot go higher than 2160mhz @ 1075mv and +1000 memory. That is also not a result stable enough to complete ANY benchmark for validation.

I have been running my card on a smooth and stable 2115mhz for 2 years straight, just came looking for others' results after a rigorous undervolt & overclock tune tonight. Seems these cards' silicon just have a hard limit on practical clocks all around that seem to cap around 2130.

When I first fire up a game and my pc is cold, it will hold 2130 for about ten minutes. My card never drops below 2085 when gaming for multiple hours straight.

 

I'm very happy with what I've been able to squeeze out of this card consistently for the last 2 years, but once my frames start dropping below 100 in newer games its time to upgrade!
