PC powers up, but occasionally doesn't boot.

Hardware

  • MSI X570-A PRO
  • Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Vengeance
  • Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 36MB
  • MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GAMING X
  • Fractal Design Edison M 750W
  • 2x Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

BIOS Version: 7C37vH7

The Problem

Most of the time it boots up and runs perfectly. Have never had any issues once it's POSTed.

But occasionally, maybe 1-2 times out of 10 it will fail.

Fans Spin

"EZ Debug" LEDs light up for DRAM, BOOT and VGA, but not CPU

No video signal

Power off signal is completely ineffective, I have to turn off the PSU, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. This fixes the issue 100% of the time.

I've tried reseating all connectors.

This happens when starting from sleep/hibernation as well.

The unpredictable and sparse occurrence of the issue makes it hard to test.

Thanks in advance.

“Sometimes” implies an analog issue.  Something is barely connected.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
