2060 Super for 1440p?

I’m hoping to move to a 1440p 144Hz display in a few months once I’ve upgraded the rest of my system

 

Im planning on a 2060 Super as my GPU (max budget is around £350). 
 

I’m just wondering how it will cope at 1440p though.
 

The only other more powerful card in my price range is the 5700 XT, but being completely honest I’m not prepared to have the issues that do many people seem to be facing. 
 

I know I’ll not be getting 144FPS but is anyone here running a 2060 Super at 1440?

 

Or does anyone else have any advice or input?

Well it really comes down to what you want. A monitor is an investment so I would probably buy a 1440p 144hz monitor over a 1440p 60hz monitor even if I knew my current gpu wasn't going to push much more than 60 fps at 1440p for a simple reason. I don't want to have to replace my monitor once I upgrade my GPU a few years down the line. Also there are some games that I would want to run at 144hz that you can do so easily with most graphics cards like overwatch and the like. On top of that even if you get to 80 to 100 fps it still is a noticeable difference over a 60hz monitor.

In any game where it actually matters, you will hit the 144FPS target on reasonable settings (even max settings in some of them).

In graphically demanding games, definitely don't expect everything on High/Ultra with that kind of FPS.

 

But you will be more than fine for the most part.

G-sync/Freesync can compensate for lower fps in non-competitive games, so it will be less noticeable. Go for higher hertz.

You'd only face them if you were one of the unlucky 1-in-6000, and refused to do any troubleshooting whatsoever.

 

For your budget, the 5700 XT is a significant improvement in framerate for only a marginal increase in price.

No... but I am using the 5700XT and any issues that I did have have been resolved. The only crashes I've had recently have been down to the tweaking I did with overclocking it.

So are the issues blown out of proportion? I know the internet tends to do that ( especially the tech community) but it’s hard to gauge just how many 5700XT owners are having trouble.

They are massively blown out of proportion. Nvidia has been actively pushing this rhetoric as a way to mitigate their marketshare loss from the RX 5000 series.
